About Me
Professor Max started training BJJ in 1997, and started his training with Gracie Barra under the Legendary Eduardo de Lima in 1999. Training directly under Professor de Lima he continued to compete locally and nationally including the Pan American Games as a blue, purple, brown and black belt. Max Goldberg continues to teach under Professor de Lima all levels and shares his passion for jiu jitsu at Flagstaff Jiu Jitsu. (3x Pan American Medalist)
Professor Max is a primary example of a man who is fully dedicating his life to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Gracie Barra and his students.
When teaching classes or correcting students the emphasis on details makes Max’s classes and coaching very distinct.

About Me
Lil Max is the son of Max Goldberg (father-son team) and started training with Eduardo de Lima in 1999 at the age of 10. Max often trains at the Gracie Barra headquarters training camps, prior to competing in the World or Pan American games. Professor Max had the honor of receiving his Black Belt from Master Carlos Gracie Jr. in October 2019, at the Gracie Barra World Summit 2019.
Professor Max really enjoys teaching kids and making the classes fun! Professor Max has experience competing in sport Jiu-Jitsu and encourages his students to do the same. Professor Max teaches the Kids Program and is an outstanding role model and mentor to all of his students.
Lucas Goldberg

About Me
Coach Lucas is the son of Max Goldberg (father-son/brother team) and started training Jiu-Jitsu in 2010 at the age of 5. Lucas has a strong background in wrestling, weight training, diet and fitness. Lucas has trained at Gracie Barras all over the U.S. Lucas is experienced in competing in sport Jiu-Jitsu and was recently medaled in the 2022 World IBJJF Championship.
Coach Lucas helps teach the Kids Program and is an outstanding role model and mentor to all of his students.
Karen Patterson

About Me
Coach Karen is the head instructor for Gracie Barra Flagstaff’s Women’s Self-Defense program, which is a program designed to meet the specific learning needs of women who want to start Jiu-Jitsu. Coach Karen’s classes combine a comprehensive self-defense curriculum with the sports aspects of jiu-jitsu. Coach Karen started training with Professor Goldberg and Sons in 2016 at the age of 19. She wrestled in junior high and high school. In high school, she competed in folk style, freestyle, and Greco- Roman wrestling. Coach Karen assisted in teaching the kid’s wrestling program. Coach Karen currently co-teaches the Kids Program and has done so since she was a blue belt in 2019.
